Nataliya’s question:
Like Anastasiya, I am also interested in the topic of vitamins. To be more specific, I would like to know about vitamin B12. The media says vegetarians have a lack of this vitamin. Please clarify this.

Anastasiya’s question:
…Also, modern medicine constantly talks about vitamins, their content in the products and their lack in the organism. Yet, I have never heard vitamins being mentioned in your lectures.

Thank you for your questions.

Yes, in my Ayurveda lectures I make practically no mention of vitamins. The reason for that is simple – the Ayurvedic diet is a natural diet recommended by Sanaatana Dharma, revealed to people by Rishis and created by God. It is a perfect system, and by following it one gains health and eliminates diseases (I emphasize the meaning of “eliminating”). This diet is based on completely different knowledge and principles, simply unknown to medicine. An example of this is Tridoshaavidya – the science of three Doshas that make up the anatomy, the nervous system, the physiology etc. It also includes the knowledge of the Primary Elements and the related system of tastes – the lack or misbalance of tastes is much more dangerous than the “lack” of vitamins. Another important factor is the individual Prakrti or Vikrti or the constitution of a person. This is the most basic factor determining what is good or bad in life for a person. If people do not believe in God, it should be beared in mind that, having existed for many thousands of years, this system has stood the test of time – the harshest of tests. It has also been tested on billions of people throughout hundreds of generations. Therefore, it is a double-proof system. On one hand, it is of Divine creation. On the other hand, it has been verified in real life. So, whenever I am asked about some new diet, a miraculous vitamin and so on, I say, ‘Let at least 5 thousand years pass. If this will still be remembered, I might become interested.’ However, as a rule, in a few years no one remembers a thing about these wonders or they turn out to have all kinds of side effects or turn out to be plain harmful for people. Hence, if one follows Sanaatana Dharma, all the possible dietary aspects, including vitamins, minerals etc. and also many other aspects that modern medicine has no idea about, are automatically in optimal and integral balance and you need not worry about them.

The situation with the vitamin myth is exactly the same. Earlier, no one knew about vitamins, yet, people lived on and were healthier than today. It is interesting that the countries with the biggest consumption of vitamins have the highest rates of serious chronic diseases. I speak of the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and European countries. Surely, vitamins are not the sole cause of the problem but the regularity is, nevertheless, indicative of something. When I mention vitamins here and hereafter, I speak of vitamins that are manufactured by industrial and synthetic means.

Let us begin with the most important part – in principle, the maximum “assimilation” ratio for these vitamins in the human body is 3%. So, when people buy vitamins, they should know that, in the best case scenario, 97% of the money they spent on buying them will end up in the toilet bowl. The scenarios can be worse, but we will discuss this later. Still, everything is not all simple with the 3% – being of artificial origin, the vitamins do not engage in a natural synergy with human cells and damage the cells which leads to an accelerated aging of the organism.

Secondly, medicine is unaware what amounts of vitamins are really necessary for people. A ridiculous situation arises – in the USA the recommended dose of vitamin C is 60 mg per day, in Great Britain it is 30 mg, in France – 80 mg, in Italy – 45 mg. It seems that the French are two times taller and heavier than the Americans, live beyond the polar circle and suffer avitaminosis, while all the Brits are dwarfs, compared to everyone else. All of this indicates one thing – these numbers are not based on any system and it is unknown where they are coming from. In fact, the necessity for vitamins depends on many factors, such as the chemistry of the organism, the speed of the metabolism, the lifestyle, the physical and mental load and many other aspects that are very dependent on the individual.

Thirdly, to this day, the therapeutic effect of vitamin usage has not been proven. However, the side effects and the clear harm are noted in numerous researches. For example, in the year 2007, the journal of the American Medical Association provided interesting data. It turned out that using vitamin E increases the risk of premature death by 4%, whereas using vitamin A increases it by 16%. Moreover, using vitamin A causes hair loss, defective eyesight, headaches and deformations in children’s bodies. Vitamin D elutes calcium from bones, causes heart diseases, atherosclerosis, slows the development of children etc. When added to food, it is not assimilated by the organism, although it is known that sunlight is a free source of vitamin D and simply being in the sun provides the necessary amounts of this hormone (it is, in fact, a hormone produced by the human body itself, not a vitamin). It is believed that the lack of vitamin C in the body causes scurvy and destroys blood-vessels. Nonetheless, it turned out that consuming vitamin C in any amounts does not make scurvy go away and does not renew blood-vessels, whereas a few citric plants do this very fast. Furthermore, mothers that used vitamin C during pregnancy often had children with an acute lack of this vitamin. This was caused by the fact that the body was actively excreting the vitamin during pregnancy, as this vitamin is of artificial origin and poses a threat to the child’s organism – after birth, the organism of the child continued the excretion. The same can happen to adults. In fact, vitamin C can be assimilated by the organism only when vitamin C2 is also present. Vitamin C2, in its turn, is found only in living structures. For some reason, no one knows anything about that.

And finally, regarding vitamin B12 – in fact, this vitamin is not found in animal products, as is believed; instead, it is produced by bacteria found in the human intestinal canal. The total amount of this vitamin produced by the body in a human lifetime is the size of 5 mm in diameter.

I think, this is all happening due to science seeing people as helpless beings which cannot live without the help from outside, especially the help of medicine. A human being is seen as something of an annual plant, growing in a greenhouse and needing fertilizing. Creating vitamins is a way of “improving” nature and man or perfecting God. Nowadays, vitamins are already forcefully added to many products to make them “healthier”. Yet, it should be kept in mind that the human body is made by The Creator and is a perfect system that exists for millions of years, a proven fact, and does not need improving. All the human body needs is to not be disturbed. Humans are an inseparable part of all nature, also made by The Creator, where everything is integrally interconnected. When making humans, The Creator also foresaw everything they would need for life. Now we know well what the attempts of changing nature lead to. Therefore, eat vegetables and fruits created by nature itself and do not worry about vitamins, minerals etc. They are found in nature in living form and in the necessary proportions, naturally supplementing each other, which allows them to be assimilated by our organism, unlike the artificially created ones that simply leave the body confused. I explained this in more detail in my article called “WHAT IS THE FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCE BETWEEN AYURVEDA AND MEDICINE”
